The colder months are almost here, and so the Oil Firing Technical Association (OFTEC) and the UK and Ireland Fuel Distribution Association (UKIFDA), have made a simple checklist to help you become ‘Winter Wise’ and prepare for the winter ahead.

Be sure to tick them off well before the cold weather hits home.

Order your winter oil early 

UKIFDA suggest ordering your heating oil early this winter to avoid spikes in demand and winter-related delays which can lead to the risk of running out.

Cold Weather Priority Scheme 

If you are, or live with someone who is, 75 years or over please be aware of UKIFDA’s free Cold Weather Priority (CWP) scheme. 

This initiative helps identify at-risk customers so that UKIFDA distributors can prioritise fuel deliveries, particularly during extreme cold weather or fuel shortages. All UKIFDA members make a big effort to identify households who are entitled to the free scheme.
