Suppliers may be eligible to charge a fee on failed deliveries. Effective route planning is critical to ensuring smooth and timely deliveries for all customers. Suppliers load their tankers and schedule their deliveries with the aim of returning to the depot or terminal with an empty tanker. Carrying fuel back is not cost effective for the Supplier plus they will have incurred wasted logistics costs in travelling but not been able to make the delivery.
